The forever guarantee

A printed code never stops working. Here is that in writing.

Other QR generators switch codes off when a trial ends or a plan lapses, and the menu on the table stops working until someone pays. Ours do not, and this page says what we do if we ever close.

1. You pay once

An editable code costs €9, once. Ten codes on your own domain cost €49, once. There is no subscription, no renewal and no plan that can lapse, so there is nothing to stop paying. Static codes, the ones that hold your link directly, stay free and never touch our servers at all.

2. What we never do

  • Switch a code off, pause it or put it behind a paywall.
  • Show an ad, a "this code has expired" page or anything else between a scan and your destination.
  • Track the people who scan: no cookies, and nothing about a scan is stored.
  • Change where a code points. Only the holder of its edit link can.

The one exception: a code that sends people to phishing, malware or other unlawful content. We point that code at a notice page instead. We still do not delete it.

3. You can leave with your codes

The edit page downloads every code as JSON at any time: the short link, where it points and where it pointed before. A 10-pack also downloads a _redirects file that any static host (Cloudflare Pages, Netlify) runs as is.

With a 10-pack the codes carry your own domain, for example qr.yourshop.com. The domain is yours, so the printed codes are too: point it at another host with that file and every sticker keeps working, with or without us.

4. If we ever shut down

  • We announce it at least 12 months ahead, on this site and by email to every buyer, at the address used to pay.
  • Every code keeps redirecting to its last destination through those 12 months and for at least 5 more years after them. Only editing stops.
  • We keep qrkept.com registered and the redirects running for that whole time.
  • Exports keep working until the end, and 10-pack owners can move their domain whenever they like.
  • If qrkept.com is sold or handed over, these promises go with it. Whoever takes over takes over the redirects on the same terms.

5. Who stands behind this

qrkept.com is run by Christoph Biering, a sole trader in Dresden, Germany (see theImpressum). This guarantee is part of the termsof every purchase, so it binds us like the rest of the contract. Codes made here for free before paid codes existed are covered the same way.
